Autumn has always been the time of the year that most people start thinking about decorations. Whether it is how to decorate this year’s Halloween costume, prepare your house for a Halloween party or scare the kiddies on the prowl for candy.
It’s fun to take on a new look for a little while and really get into the spirit of Halloween but people often overlook their fences. You see a lot of ghosts in the yard, witches on the windows and fake spider webs galore but no one thinks to get creative with their fence.
Change that this autumn with a few of these decorating tips:
- Fence posts are the perfect place for a fun topper. You and your kids would have a great time decorating a slew of small pumpkins with different expressions to stand guard over your fence line. They can be even more eye catching if you take the time to put candles into them on Halloween night.
- A lot of fence materials, like cedar, have great places to hang plants. Before it comes time to take your plants indoors, you can use them as a type of Halloween themed Christmas tree. Get some decorative gourds, small pumpkins, fake bats or anything else you can think of and have fun with it.
- For the fence itself, you need something a little more impressive. You could try for the standard spider webs, eerie lighting and paper ghosts. But why not go all out? Cover your entire fence in glow in the dark paint, create a giant monster head and use the fence pickets as its teeth or have a vampire staked with a fence post at random intervals.
When it comes to decorating your fencing materials the possibilities are endless. With just a little bit of internet research and a few dollars spent at the party store, you could make your house the talk of the neighborhood this Halloween.
