Atlanta Chain-Link Fence Installation and Up-keep Tips

Though chain-link fencing is often associated with industrial buildings and other areas that require greater security, such fencing can also be successfully employed for non-traditional use. While a chain-link fence will serve as a distasteful barrier when not executed with careful consideration, it is possible to use chain-link to complement nearly any type of construction.

If you’re an Atlanta business owner, chain-link fencing can be an inexpensive and quick security alternative to other materials like wrought iron. In fact, it makes for a great barrier against potential intruders as the see-through links ensure that potential criminal activity will remain in view. It also requires little maintenance, and like all metal fences, offers strong gates, latches, and hinges which are often the first areas to wear out when dealing with another type of fence.

Atlanta residents who turn to chain-link endure one downside: the cost of metal fence material and installation can be pricy when compared to some less pricy alternatives, though chain-link’s low upkeep ultimately allows it to remain one of the most cost-effective Atlanta fencing options.

To soften the rough look of chain-link fencing Atlanta residents can coat the metal with PVC in a shade that compliments their residence. Alternatively, plastic strips can be woven through the links or privacy slats can be installed to reduce wind-flow.

Though chain-link comes in a number of gauges and thicknesses, most Atlanta residents who use chain-link at home select the 11.5 gauge standard. Mesh size, which indicates the size of the “holes” or loops between the wires, can be altered to provide more or less security. The smaller the space between each wire the greater the level of security, as this will increase the amount of metal used while simultaneously strengthening the fence. For residential applications most Atlanta residents chose 2 to 2 3/8 inch mesh, though business owners who desire greater security may look to a smaller size.
